Joan Healy of Bandon Athletic Club was part of the Irish 4 x 100m team which set
a new Irish junior record for the event with a time of 45.93. She was in action
as part of the Irish squad in Poland last week at the World Junior

qualifying time for the 100m sprint earlier in the year. Unfortunately however,
the team came fourth in their heat and did not qualify for the final. Joan also
ran in the 100m sprint finishing 6th in her heat. Keep in mind that she was
competing against the best in the world at junior level and to qualify for this
level is a huge achievement for an Irish athlete. There can be no doubt Joan has
an illustrious career ahead of her in athletics.

form, holding their own with athletes from all corners of the country.
Full results as follows, Colin Kingston won the U13 shot with a huge throw of
13.91 and the jury is still out as to whether it is a record breaker. Fintan

commitment by the athletes themselves, their families and their trainers.
