Training has recommenced in the Sports Hall in Bandon Grammar School. On the 12th January we held registration night in the Sports Hall which was a great success. Anyone who didn't pay their membership that night is asked to do so as soon as possible. New Insurance rules dictates that any athlete running with the club and who is not registered will not be covered by Club Insurance. Membership for Adults is €30 and for Juveniles its €20. Family memberships rates are available, please see the treasurer for more details.

on 23th Jan.

Run For Asia. 19th Jan 05
In response to the recent disaster in South East
Asia a committee of Cork sports organisations has been set up to organise a run
which will raise fund to be distributed equally among Concern, Goal, Hope,
Oxfam, Red Cross and Trocaire. The run/walk will take place on Wednesday January
19th 7.30pm staring on the South Mall in Cork City Centre. The course will be
around the city centre and will be approximately 3 Km long. Race entry cost €10.
Numbers for the run/walk will be available at the following venues this weekend. Wilton Shopping Centre, Douglas Court, Merchants Quay, Blackpool Shopping Centre and the Imperial Hotel. The race offices will be open on Saturday from 12pm-6pm and Sunday from 2pm-6pm. Also we're hoping to have numbers available at training on Monday night.
Cork County Athletics Association is supporting this event. They are looking for members of all athletic clubs to help this event by assisting with the distribution numbers and providing volunteers to man the office and steward the run on the night. Bandon '5' Mile Road Race (Sponsored by Bandon Tyre Centre) 1st Jan 05
Mark Hanrahan (Leevale)
quickly opened up a slight advantage in Bandon's New Year Day Road Race and he
held the lead to the finish as he ran out winner in a time of 25min and 37 sec's
with 22 seconds to spare over Cathal O'Connell (St Finbarr's) who was also 2nd
last year. Fergus Meade (East Cork) was 3rd, Eric Meade (East Cork) 4th, Josh
Palmer (Togher A.C.) was 5th and Tim Murphy (St Finbarr's) was 6th. The first
lady home was Mary Sweeney of St Finbarr's in a time of 30mins and 15 sec's with
Ann-Marie Healy (Eagle) 2nd, Mary Sheehan (Grange-Fermoy) 3rd, Claire O'Brien
(East Cork) 4th, Angela McEvoy (St Finbarr's) 5th and Helen Leonard (Rathfarnham)
6th lady home. Jerry Forde (Blarney-Inniscarra) won the wheelchair section. The
1st Men's Team was Eagle and the 1st ladies team was St Finbarr's. Other prize
winners included, Joe O'Sullivan (1st Over 40), Mark Bullman (2nd O40), Padraigh
McCarthy (3rd O40) Michael Murphy (1st over45), Willie Hayes (2nd O45), Denis

O'Donovan Electrical for the amplification, the local Red Cross and all who
helped with the stewarding and catering and everybody else who helped make the

All-Ireland Even Age Cross Country Championships, Mullingar 12th Dec 2004.
A number of athletes travelled to Mullingar for the All-Ireland Cross Country, the Boys U12 and Boys U16 teams were unfortunately outside the medals. In the Girls U16 race Lynda O'Donovan finished 42nd and she won a Silver Inter County medal as part of a successful Cork team. The Boy's Under 12 team and the Boys U16 team were both outside the medals. In the Boys U12 Sipka O'Shaughnessy and Mark Sugrue finished in the top 6 from Cork and in the Boys U16 Ronan Duggan and Michael Hurley also finished in the top 6 from Cork but unfortunately in both cases Cork finished outside the medals. This was a tough course with stiff competition in all races and all athletes who competed did themselves and their club proud. (Full Results)
Inter County Munster Cross Country Championships, Rathgormack, Co.Waterford 5th Dec 2004
The Cork girls U10 team were second and included Laura McSweeney. The Boys U12 including both Mark O'Sullivan and Sipka O'Shaughnessy were 3rd. The Boys U10 team included Kerry Desmond but unfortunately the team finished outside the medals.
Munster 'B' Cross Country Championships, Rathgormack, Co.Waterford 5th Dec 2004
In the Girls U11 Phil Healy was 6th and won an individual medal and a medal as part of the Cork team.
The Girls U13 team of Joan Healy, Ailis Crowley, Caroline Sugrue, Lorraine O'Brien, Daniella Jackson, Elizabeth Prout were second. Joan Healy also won an individual medal (5th) and a medal as part of the Cork team.
Mairead Roche was 12th in the Girls U15 and as well as winning an individual medal she also won one as part of the Cork team who were 2nd.
In the Boys U9 Eoin O'Brien was part of the Cork team who were 2nd.
All-Ireland Un-Even Age Cross Country Championships, Dungarvan 28th Nov 2004.
A number of Bandon athletes travelled to Dungarvan for the All-Ireland Cross Country. Ciaran Everard was the highest placed Bandon athlete finishing in 31st place in the Boys U11 race which was good enough to earn him a place on the Cork team which won a Silver medal. Lynda O'Donovan was 34th in the Girls U15 race and was also on the Cork team which won Bronze in the Inter County competition. Others who ran well on the day but finished outside the medals were Sipka O'Shaughnessy (U13), Joan Healy (U13), Shane Conway (U15), Anthony Hennessy (U15).
Bandon Athletic Club AGM
The Club AGM was held on November 23rd in Munster Arms Hotel, George Bradfield stepped down as Chairman and John O'Donovan was elected to that position. Mervyn Good stepped down as secretary and Tom Laffan was elected to that position. A more detailed report will appear here soon.
West Cork Cross Country Championships/County Masters & Intermediate, Bandon 21st Nov 2004
Bandon was the venue for the West Cork Juvenile Cross Country and the Cork County Masters and Intermediate Cross Country Championships on the 21st. Many thanks to Denis Collins for the use of the lands to host these competitions. Bandon had many athletes in action with some of the younger members in action for the first time and well done to everyone who took part. There were top 3 finishes for the following: Lisa Lovell, Sinead Caulfield, Lynda O'Donovan, Mairead Roche, Gerard McCarthy, Kerry Desmond, Sipka O'Shaughnessy, Ronan Duggan, John Hurley, Michael Hurley. Munster Juvenile Cross Country Championships, Piltown, Co Kilkenny 14th Nov.
The Even Age Munster Cross Country Championships were held Piltown in excellent weather on an excellent course. In the InterClub teams the Boys U12 were 3rd (Sipka O'Shaughnessy, Mark Sugrue, Mark O'Sullivan, Ciaran Everard, John Lucey, David O'Brien, Patrick McSweeney, Tadgh O'Donovan) and the Boys U16 were also 3rd (Ronan Duggan, John Hurley, Michael Hurley, Brian Chelsius, Anthony Hennessy, Shane Conway)
In the InterCounty Competion, the Cork U10 Boys team were 2nd and included Kerry Desmond. The Cork U12 Boys were 3rd and featured Sipka O'Shaughnessy and Mark Sugrue, while Ronan Duggan was part of the Cork U16 Boys team which were 2nd. Full Results
Cork County 'B' Cross Country Championship, Dromtarriffe 7th Nov.
The Cork County 'B' Cross country was held in fine weather but on a very heavy course on the 7th Nov in Dromtarriffe. Bandon had only a small number of athletes completing, the Girls U11 team made up for the disappointment of losing out in the County 'A' competition when they took 2nd place in the team competition. They were led home by Emma Lovell who finished an excellent 8th place, Niamh Mulcahy was 15th, Laura McSweeney 23rd, Aoife Lucey 25th, Meg O'Sullivan 26th and Anna O'Driscoll 27th. In the Girls U13 Tracey Bradfield was Bandon's only competitor and she finished in 20th place.

Individual medals on the day were won by Aisling Everard, Aideen Caulfield and Ciarian Everard. In the InterClub teams the Girls U9 were 1st (Aisling Everard, Aideen Caulfield, Claire Sexton, Kate Toner, Aoibheann Harte, Sinead Mulcahy, Keren Chatterton, Fiona Duggan). Winning Medals as part of Cork team were the following Aisling Everard, Aideen Caulfield, Claire Sexton, Fintan O'Shaugnessy, Ciaran Everard, Mark Sugrue, Sipka O'Shaughnessy, Lynda O'Donovan, Anthony Hennessy, Shane Conway and Michael Hurley.
Munster Novice Cross Country Championships was held on the same day and in the women's event Bandon were the 3rd team. (Full Results)

Bandon AC won team prizes in 6 of the 7 age categories where a team was entered. Individual medals on the day were won by Kerry Desmond (3rd U10), Promise Okafor (6th U10), Sipka O'Shaughnessy (2nd U12), Mark O'Sullivan (3rd U12), Mark Sugrue (6th U12), Lynda O'Donovan (5th U16) and Ronan Duggan (5th U16). In the InterClub teams, Boys U10 1st, Boys U12 1st, Boys U16 1st, Girls U12 3rd, Girls U14 2nd, Girls U16 3rd, while the U10 Girls narrowly lost out. Bandon AC were again to the forefront of the County Cross Country Championships winning team prizes in 8 of the 9 age categories where a team was entered. Individual medals on the day were won by Claire Sexton (3rd U9), Aisling Everard (4th U9), Aideen Caulfield (5th U9), Promise Okafar (1st U9), Fintan O'Shaughnessy (2nd U9), Lynda O'Donovan (3rd U15) and Brian Chelsius (5th U15). Joe O'Sullivan was a very impressive 10th followed closely by
Tom Laffan who finished in 18th place.
West Cork League Cross Country League, Bantry 26th Sept
In excellent weather conditions and on a much improved course the West Cork Cross Country league was held in Bantry on Sunday the 26th. The races got under way with the Girls U9 which Bandon dominated filling the first 5 places with Claire Sexton winning and Aisling Everard just seeing off Aideen Caulfield to take second place. In the Boys U11 Ciaran Everard was 2nd. In the U13 Ailis Crowley was 3rd in the Girls race while Sipka O'Shaughnessy was also 3rd in the boys race. Lynda O'Donovan was 1st in the Girls U15 while Brian Chelsius was also victorious in the boys U15. In the U17 races Michelle Hayes was 3rd while Ronan Duggan won the boys U17 race. (Full Results)
West Cork Schools Cross Country, Dunmanway
A number of Bandon Athletic Club Members travelled to Dunmanway to represent their schools in the EBS West Cork Schools Cross Country. 1st year Girls Lorraine O'Brien (Colaiste NaToirbhirte) was 2nd, Ailis Crowley (CNaT) was 5th and Serena Cross (CNaT) 9th. Colaiste NaToirbhirte won 2nd team prize. 2nd year girls Lynda O'Donovan (Colaiste NaToirbhirte) was 1st, Ann O'Donovan (CNaT) was 3rd and Mairead Roche (CNaT) was 5th. Colaiste NaToirbhirte won 1st team. In the 2nd year boys Cian O'Donovan (Hamilton High School) was 3rd, Alan Coleman (St. Brogans) was 5th and Anthony Hennessy (Clonakilty Community School) was 6th. In the 3rd year boys Ronan Duggan (St. Brogans) was 4th. In the 4th year boys Patrick Hartnett (St. Brogans) was 3rd, Michael Hurley (St. Brogans) was 5th, David O'Donovan (St. Brogans) was 6th and John Hurley (St. Brogans) was 9th. St. Brogans won the 1st team.
St Finbarr's AC Half Marathon, Blarney, 12th Sept
St Finbarr's Half Marathon was held in Blarney on the 12th Sept and Bandon
AC had a number of senior athletes in action. Carmel Crowley was the 4th
woman home and Grainne Caulfield and Carmel were the 4th women's team. For
the men Tom Laffan had a great run finishing a very impressive 20th in a time of
1hr 18mins. Completing the men's team was James Daly (65th) and
Joe O'Sullivan (128th) and the team was 14th overall.
Kinsale/Riverstick Open Cross Country, 12th Sept.
On a wet and windy day which made the conditions difficult for the athletes (and the parents!) approx 30 athletes from Bandon made the trip to Kinsale for the Open Cross Country hosted by Kinsale/Riverstick AC. Bandon athletes won 12 individual medals and also 6 team's were in the medals. Individual medal winners included Fintan O'Shaughnessy 3rd U9, Claire Sexton 6th U9, Jerry Crowley 5th U11, Ailis Crowley 5th U13, Joan Healy 6th U13, Sipka O'Shaughnessy 5th U13, Mark O'Sullivan 6th U13, Lynda O'Dononvan 1st U15, Mairead Roche 5th U15, Brian Chelsius 2nd u15, Anthony Hennessy 5th U15 and Ronan Duggan was 1st in the U17.
The Girls U9 team were 3rd, the Boys U11 team were 3rd, the Girls U13 team were second, the Boys U13 were 1st, the Girls U15 were 1st and the Boys U15 were 3rd. (Full Results)
Midleton Cross Country, 5th Sept.
In the first Cross Country of the season Lisa Lovell won the U8 400m, Sinead Caulfield was 4th in the U8, Laura McSweeney was 9th in u10 600m, Aideen Caulfield was 2nd in U9 400m and Emma Lovell was 9th in U11 800m.
Community Games, Mosney
At the Community Games National Finals held in Mosney Bandon AC had 2 medal winners. Lisa Crowley was 3rd in the Girls Under 8 60m and Lynda O'Donovan was 3rd in the Girls U14 Long Jump, both of them were representing the Bandon area. Well done to Lynda and Lisa.
Munster Juvenile Athletics Team in Wales.
Representing Munster in a Track and Field competition in Wales on the 15th Aug were a number of Bandon AC members and they did themselves and Bandon proud with their performances. Michelle Hayes was 1st in the Long Jump, Chris Nash was 2nd in the 200m, Lynda O'Donovan was 3rd in the 800m, 3rd High Jump, Mairead Roche was 3rd in the Javelin and 4th in the hurdles.
Tracton Open Sports, Minane Bridge GAA Grounds 15th August 2004
The numbers were small at Tracton Sports but Bandon performed very well on the day. Medal winners on the day included, Laura McSweeney (U10, 1st 100m, 2nd 600m, 1st Ball Throw and 3rd in the U12 Shot), Patrick McSweeney (U12 3rd 100m and 1st in the Shot), Joan Healy (U13 1st 100m and 1st 600) Tracy Bradfield (U12 1st Shot, 1st U13 Long Jump, 1st 100m), Niamh Mulcahy (U11 3rd 100m), Phil Healy (U11 1st 100m and 2nd 300m) Kate Toner (2nd U10 Ball Throw), Lyn Bradfield (3rd 300m and 2nd U12 Shot), Mark O'Sullivan (U12 1st 100m, 1st 600m and 3rd Shot), Lisa Lovell (U8 1st 80m and 1st 200m), Fintan O'Shaughnessy (U9 1st 200m, 2nd 80m), Robert O'Sullivan (u10 1st Ball Throw), Aideen Caulfield (U9 3rd 80m and 3rd 200m), Sinead Mulcahy (U9 2nd 80m and 2nd 200m), Sarah Bradfield (U16 3rd 100m, 2nd U17 Shot), Rachel Roche (U17 1st Shot), Anna McCarthy (U12 3rd 600m). Celtic International Scotland, 7th/8th August 2004
Bandon AC had two members representing Ireland in the Celtic Games in Scotland. Sarah Bradfield was 3rd in the U15 Discus and Philip Burns was 3rd in the U15 Javelin. To finish in the top 3 at this level of competition is truly a fantastic achievement and well done to both Sarah and Philip.
All Ireland Masters Track and Field Championships, Tullamore 8th Aug.
An incredible haul of All-Ireland medals made the trip back to Bandon after the All Ireland Masters Track and Field Championships. Liz Coomey was 1st in the High Jump, 1st in the Long Jump, 2nd in the 200m and 1st in the Hammer. Anne McCarthy was 3rd in the 100m and 3rd in the 400m. Carmel McCarthy was 1st in the 1,500m, 1st in the 3,000 and 3rd in the 800m. In the relays the 4*100m relay team of Liz Coomey, Anne McCarthy, Anne Crowley and Carmel McCarthy were 1st. In the 4*400m meter relay the team of Liz Coomey, Anne McCarthy, Carmel McCarthy and Grainne Caulfield were 2nd.
Liscarroll Open Sports. Liscarroll, 8th Aug.
A small number of Bandon AC members made the long trip to Liscarroll and it was a successful outing for most. Lisa Lovell was 1st in the U8 75m and 1st in the 110m. Robert O'Sullivan was 1st in the U10 Ball Throw. Laura McSweeney was 3rd in the U10 75m sprint and 4th in the Ball Throw. Toni Chatterton was 4th in the U11 long jump. Mairead Crowley was 2nd in the U12 100m. Mark Sugrue was 2nd in the U12 Shot and 3rd in the U13 Long Jump. Mark O'Sullivan was 1st in the U12 600m and 4th in the 100m. Patrick McSweeney was 4th in the U12 Shot. Lorraine O'Brien was 2nd in the U13 100m and 2nd in the 800m. Claire Crowley was 2nd in the U15 100m. In the mixed relays, the U11 team (Emma Lovell, Toni Chatterton, Robert O'Sullivan, David O'Brien) were 3rd, the U13 team (Lorraine O'Brien, Mairead Crowley, Mark O'Sullivan, Mark Sugrue) were 1st. The Girls U12 relay team of Toni Chatterton, Niamh Mulcahy, Laura McSweeney and Naoimi McCarthy were 3rd. The Boys U12 team of Patrick McSweeney, David O'Brien, Mark Sugrue, Mark O'Sullivan were 3rd.

Individual medal winners on the night included, Promise Okafor, Might Okafor, Great Okafor, Robert O'Sullivan, Mark O'Sullivan, Mark Sugrue, Phil Healy, Joan Healy and Laura McSweeney. There was also a number of mixed relay medals won by Bandon AC members.
Rising Sun Open Sports 2nd Aug 2004 CIT Track.
Anne Crowley receiving the Stephen Murphy Memorial Trophy for Best Overall Club on behalf of Bandon AC at the Rising Sun Sports.
There was a big crowd of Bandon AC members at Rising Sun Open Sports held today in the CIT Track. An enjoyable day was had by all and Bandon retained the trophy for the Best Overall Club, it was the 4th year in a row that Bandon has won this award.

In the All Ireland 'B' Juvenile Championships held in Tullamore on the 1st Aug there were a number of successes for Bandon AC members. In the Boys U12 Mark Sugrue was 1st in the Long Jump, 1st in the Ball Throw and Mark O'Sullivan was 2nd in the 600m. In the Girls U12 Mairead Crowley was 1st in the 80m, Tracey Bradfield won the Long Jump and Caroline Sugrue was 2nd in the Ball Throw. In the Girls U13 Lorraine O'Brien was 2nd in the 80m and 2nd in the 600m, Joan Healy was 1st in the 80m and Tracy Bradfield was 1st in the Shot. Michael Hurley was 3rd in the Boys U16 800m.

All Ireland Track + Field Championships U9-U13 Tullamore 17th/18th.
Great Okafar was 2nd in the Boys U.11 80m sprint, Kelly Tobin was 2nd in the U13 Ball Throw. Clare Sexton was competing in the U9 Awards Scheme (Sprint, Ball Throw and Long Jump) and won a Silver Award.
In the relays, the Girls U9 Relay team, (Clare Sexton, Emer Cummins, Katie Toner, Aoibheann Harte, Fiona Duggan) were 3rd and the Boys U11 Relay Team (Richard Walsh, Ronan Sheehan, Mighty Okafor, Great Okafor, Jerry Crowley) were 2nd.
All Ireland Track + Field Championships U14-U19 Tullamore 10th/11th.
The All Ireland Championship for the U14-U19 age group was held recently in Tullamore. Rachel Roche won 3 medals, she won the U17 Discus, was 2nd in the Shot and 3rd in the Javelin. Philip Burns won the U15 Javelin. Sarah Bradfield was 1st in the Discus. Full details
Annual Draw
The results of the recent Bandon Athletic Club draw included 1st (€150) Deirdre Coomey, Timoleague, 2nd (€50) Evelyn Fogarty, Bandon, 3rd (€50) Caitrona O'Neill, Timoleague, 4th (€25) Hessie McCarthy, Bandon, 5th (€25) Mary McSweeney, Bandon. There was also numerous spot prizes given out.
West Cork Summer League, Macroom
The second event in the Summer League took place recently in Macroom. Medal winners on the day included Lorraine O'Brien who won the U13 600m and the Shot and was 2nd in the 80m. Joan Healy won the U13 80m. Aisling Everard was 2nd in the U9 80m and in the 300m. Mark Sugrue won the U13 Shot. Laura McSweeney was 2nd in the U11 ball throw. There was also a number of relay medal's won on the night.
Munster 'B' Track and Field Championships
A number of Bandon AC members made the long trip to Waterford for the Munster 'B' Track and Field Championships recently. There was some thrilling races involving some Bandon athletes. Lorraine O'Brien ran a great race in the U13 600m, lying 3rd with 150m to go she put in a great finish to take the gold on the line. Lorraine was also involved in a close finish in the 80m when she was just pipped by her club mate Joan Healy as Bandon took 1st and 2nd. The Cork County B Competition was held on Sunday 20th in the CIT Track in Bishopstown. A large number of Bandon AC members made the trip for this competition which was run on a team of 2 basis. The Cork County Community Games Final was on in CIT Track in Bishopstown on 19th June. A number of Bandon AC members took part with Lynda O'Donovan (Girls U14 Long Jump), Lisa Crowley (Girls U8 60m) and Mairead Roche (Girls U14 Shot) qualifying for the National Finals to be held in Mosney in Aug. Munster Track and Field Championships U9-U13, Castleisland.
Bandon AC members travelled to Castleisland to compete in the Munster Championship for U9 to U13 age group.
Medal winners included Mark Sugrue, Tracy Bradfield, Kelly Tobin, Claire Sexton, Great Okafor and Promise Okafor. The girls U9 relay team and the boys U11 relay team also won team prizes. Full Results Pictures
A number of Bandon AC members qualified to represent their schools in the Cork Primary Schools Sports on Thursday 10th.

West Cork Track and Field Championships
The 2nd leg of the West Cork Track and Field Championships was held in the Athletic Pitch in Bandon on Saturday 5th June in fantastic weather. The day was a success for Bandon AC with a large number of individual medal winners and a number of relay successes which allowed Bandon AC to successfully defend the trophy for the Best Overall Club over the two legs of the West Cork Championships. All-Ireland Schools Competition
A number of Bandon AC athletes competed in the All-Ireland Schools Competition on the 5th June.
Sarah Bradfield (Bandon Grammar School) won the Junior Girls Discus and was 3rd in the Shot.
Philip Burns (Bandon Grammar School) won the Junior Boys Javelin.
Rachel Roche (Bandon Presentation Convent) was 3rd in the Intermediate Girls Discus.
In the Ballyandreen '5' Race on Thursday 27th May as part of the Ballycotton Summer Series, Carmel McCarthy was 3rd woman home and won the O35 Women's Category.
Munster Masters Championships
In the Munster Masters Championships held in Castleisland, Co. Kerry on the 30th May Liz Coomey won the both the over 35 100m and 200m events, Liz was also victorious in the hammer and was 2nd in the Shot. Carmel McCarthy won the Over 35 3,000m and was 2nd in the 800m.

Courceys AC Open Sports were held in fantastic weather on Sunday 30th. There was also a large number of relay successes for Bandon teams.
Cork County Senior Track + Field Championships
In the Cork County Senior Track + Field Championships recently in the CIT Track, Liz Coomey was 3rd in the 100m and 2nd in the Shot. Siobhan O'Donovan was 1st in the Long Jump and 2nd in the both the Shot and the Javelin.
Cork County Master Championships
Liz Coomey had a fantastic outing in the Cork Master Championships winning the 100m, 200m, 400m races and also winning the Shot, Hammer and Discus competitions.
Cork County Juvenile Championships C.I.T Track, May 2004
Bandon Athletic Club enjoyed considerable success in the Cork County Track and Field Championships which were held in fantastic weather at the CIT track in Bishopstown over the first two Sundays in May.
It was a fantastic achievement by Bandon AC over the two days as 74 individual medal's were won and 13 relay team were also among the medals. Congratulations to all medal winners and well done to all athletes who participated. Results
West Cork Track and Field Championship
The Un-even age leg of the West Cork Track and Field Championship was held in the C.I.T. Track on Sunday 25th. Competition was tough but Bandon athletes performed well as usual and came home with a large number of medals. Results Pictures.

Munster Schools Mountain Running Championships
St. Brogans College Bandon won the Munster Schools Mountain Running Championships recently. This team featured 4 members of Bandon Athletic Club. John Hurley, Michael Hurley, Pat Hartnett and Ronan Duggan.
St Patrick's Day Parade, 17th March 2004.
There was a large turnout of Bandon Athletic Club members for the Bandon St Patrick's Day Parade. The parade began at Station Road and finished by the old Garda Barracks and the fine weather combined with the Bandon `400` celebrations made it one of the largest Bandon parades in recent years. Munster `B` Juvenile Team Indoor Competitions, Nenagh 14th March.
In the Girls U12 Tracy and Lynn Bradfield won the team prize in the shot competition. In the Girls U12 sprint Tracy Bradfield and Mairead Crowley were 3rd .
Bandon Opinion/First Active Sports and Community Awards, 12th March 2004.
At the Bandon Opinion/First Active Sports and Community Awards held in the Munster Arms recently, Bandon Athletic Club member Sarah Bradfield received an award to acknowledge her achievements in the Discus, Javelin and Shot while competing for Bandon AC and Bandon Grammar School. Sarah also competed for Ireland during 2003 and was a worthy recipient of the award. Well done Sarah.
Ballycotton `10` Road Race, 7th March.
Joe O'Sullivan finished in 30th place in the Ballycotton Road Race which is one of the most prestigious road races in Ireland. Joe was 4th in the men's over 40 category.

National Intermediate Cross Country Championships. 8th Feb
Carmel Crowley was 11th and part of the Cork Intermediate Ladies team which won a bronze medal.
South Munster Schools Cross Country, Carrignavar 7th Feb
Three members of Bandon Athletic Club were part of the Coláiste na Toirbhirte minor girls team which competed in the Inter Schools South Munster Cross County at Carrignavar.
Lynda O'Donovan was 2nd, Mairead Roche 4th and Eilish Butler 9th and the team was 1st overall.
All Ireland Masters Indoor Championships Nenagh, 31st January.
Carmel Crowley had a national double winning the 1500m and the 3000m in the O35 category at the recent National Indoor Championship, Carmel was also 3rd in the 800m. Liz Coomey won medals in the Shot Putt, Long Jump, 200m and 60m. Congratulations to Carmel and Liz on these fantastic achievements.
All Ireland `B` Cross Country Championships, Athlone, Co Westmeath 25th Jan 2004
In the All Ireland inter-county relays Lynda O'Donovan was part of the Cork team which won gold. In the All Ireland `B` Cross Country Championships medal winners included Caroline Sugrue, Mark O'Sullivan, Mark Sugrue, Ailis Crowley, Ann O'Donovan, Mairead Roche, Michael Hurley, John Hurley and Pat Hartnett. Munster Junior and Senior Cross Country, Carrignavar 18th Jan
In the Senior Cross Country Carmel Crowley was 6th woman home.
Also in Carrignavar on the same day there was trials for the Cork Inter County relay team for the All-Ireland next Sunday in Athlone, Lynda O'Donovan was the sole Bandon athlete in action and Lynda came 5th in her race and qualified for the Cork team for Athlone.
West Cork League Even Age Cross Country, Skibbereen 11th Jan
In the girls U8 Katie O'Driscoll came home 1st, Imelda Fitzgerald 2nd, Fiona Duggan 3rd and Rachel McCarthy 4th. In the Boys U8 Eoin O'Brien was 3rd. In the Girls U10 Kellie Fitzgerald was 3rd, Laura McSweeney 4th and Anna O' Driscoll 5th. In the Boys U10 David O'Brien was the winner with Robert O'Sullivan 3rd and Thomas McCarthy 5th. In the Girls U12 Caroline Sugrue was 2nd. In the Boys U12 Mark Sugrue was the first Bandon athlete home in second place, followed by Mark O'Sullivan in 5th. In the U14's there was a double for Bandon with Lynda O'Donovan winning the girls race and Brian Chelius winning the boys race. Munster Masters Indoors Competition 3rd Jan
At the Munster Masters indoors Carmel Crowley of Bandon AC had double winning the over 35 1500m & 3000m. Liz Coomey of Bandon also won gold in the 60m sprint.
Bandon 400 Road Race on New Years Day.
The South Of Ireland Petroleum sponsored Bandon `5` Road Race was won by Alan O'Shea of Bantry AC with Cathal O'Connell from St Finbarr's AC 2nd. The first lady home was local athlete Carmel Crowley. The winner of the wheelchair race was Jerry Forde of Blarney-Inniscarra AC.
